Ruins Restaurant Sample Rebrand
(School Project)
An eclectic Spokane cocktail bar & restaurant contracted our college print production class to help them create a new logo for them. Known for their craft drinks and rotating menu, they wanted a design that better suited their unique style. A friend and I paid a visit to sample the menu and experience the atmosphere. The name "Ruins" had me intrigued. Upon entering, I immediately noticed an eclectic, yet nautical, theme. Ropes, glass fishing floats, and a 90's style checkerboard floor were among a few of the things that captured my attention. But it was the traditional tattoo style illustrations that I was most drawn towards. After some research, I discovered the artist's name is Kyler Martz. His illustrative style made gave beauty to otherwise rugged subjects. This is when the idea of creating a logo, like the ruins of a shipwreck, came to mind. When I picture ships at the bottom of the ocean, I envision an octopus hiding amongst the rubble.
